Loved, idealized voices
of those who have died, or of those
lost for us like the dead.

Sometimes they speak to us in dreams;
sometimes deep in thought the mind hears them.

And, with their sound, for a moment return
sounds from our life's first poetry -
like distant music fading away at night.

等同死去人的声音。

有时它们在梦中对我们说话；
有时在深思中，心灵会听到它们。

▋Growing in Spirit
卡瓦菲斯（C.P.Cavafy）

He who hopes to grow in spirit
will have to transcend obedience and respect.
He'll hold to some laws
but he'll mostly violate
both law and custom, and go beyond
the established, inadequate norm.
Sensual pleasures will have much to teach him.
He won't be afraid of the destructive act:
half the house will have to come down.
This way he'll grow virtuously into wisdom.

他必须遵守一些律法，
但多数会违反
律法和习俗，还要超越
那些虽建立，却还不成立的准则。

房子的一半必须倒塌。
这样，他就会从美德中成长为智慧。
